Let's see... Yesterday was the baptism of Deedee, and it seems that we won the battle against time in the end. I wanted to do it later on in November, but the priest has been VERY ill... He insisted on doing the baptism now because he won't do more until next year for he needs recovery time... and he really wanted to be the one performing the ceremony for Deedee. The mage wanted that as well... There is some special bond between all of us, as this priest was the one that married us and actually gave the Mage his First Communion and his Confirmation, plus he really knows my family for long (he's a distant part of it too). And so, the one-week-to-doomsday took place... Havok, mayhem... But in the end it all was worth the insanity.
PICTORIAL MEMORIESBefore the church ceremony... As we prepared auntie's home for the small gathering after the church thinguie, the little witch napped...

Yup, "Oh Dear!" alright! Stormy rain as we left auntie's home... We arrived at church and it was closed, but it was a momentary scare. Family and some friends arrived in time. Stress wore off. The priest was not ill enough to pospone anything, amen! So... The ceremony began an hour later since the family of the boy that was to be baptized with our DeeVa arrived very, very late...

First blessing. And the priest couldn't help but to make his funny remarks as usual.

Holy Water blessing. We expected Deedee to cry much, but she just did a bit of whining because the water was cold...

All of us: Groundel, LightShadow holding Deedee, The Mage and The Witch. And as my sister took the pics, the camera died. She changed the batteries and one fell on the floor, rolling towards the altar. Luckily she was swift enough, even with her humongous belly (she's due in 1 week)!

As we wait for the priest to finish his blessing of the other boy, Deedee grows impatient and pleads to her Godmom: "Umm... guys, anyone... Where's the foood?!!!"

Liting the candle... A godfather's job. Oh, little did the Godfather guessed his new duties... A long list that the priest made sure that he got! (and all of which I would explain later, as he didn't really hear well... LOL)

Holy Oil (Crisma) blessing. By then Deedee was just focusng on her pacifier, thinking only of food...

Making a pledge. And so all of us stood tall and proud making a pledge to guide Deedee's life towards the light... (No, not like a moth to a flame... come on!)

Deedee's Spiritual Parents... Groundel reacts with a "What" expression, as Deedee's face says it all... "Oh, Dear!"

Family Portrait. Witchy mom, Jedi Dad, and Vampiric Small Bride...

The church thinguie was an hour and a half, but it went really fast. Afterwards, the rain had stopped, and a small family celebration took place...
Very important: Yummy almond cake. Never have a gathering without it!

Zombies, wackos and TWA's (Third-World Assassins). This is the story of familiar strangers trying to survive a reunion... and what happens when things stop being polite and start getting real... Sort of...

A charmed family... Always.

And after all the conmotion, the Deeva is beat!

Although the morning was hectic and very stressing, the afternoon flowed smootly. The church ceremony was beautiful... Father Edwin is hilarious and very sincere, and we are very grateful for his efforts (he should be recovering in his home, not servicing... and yet he does with a genuine smile in his face). Deedee looked stunning in her baptismal gown, very vampire bride by the way...
At home, the family reception featured enough food, entertaining chit-chat, a children's songs cd that had continuous play, and cake. All in all went well, even if it was planned in just one week. I wanted to paint something for Deedee, but it was impossible. Taking care of the details took time away, we even ordered the cake the night before the event! I'm glad that my sister was around to put together the favors as I wanted, and to lend seats and tables. Auntie should be happy, we all cleaned her backyard before and after. Where there is a will there is a way! :)
We hope to begin something that at least attempts to bring both family batches together even if briefly... The mage and I cannot be dividing ourselves to please our families, it is very limited the amount of free time that we can actually share due to duty... So... We hope that for some main dates we creae some family traditions that both sides lack... Hopefuly, they should take place in our home. We'll see how that turns out... In the meanwhile... We had a good time sharing all the imperfections of our ancestors... And we finally celebrated Deedee's existence in our lives. Everything is uphill... but the three of us are truly blessed.
